Reporter' Aan het eind van elke stand-up is er een kort moment, soms slechts een (fractie van een) seconde, waar een reporter, in afwachting op de overschakeling naar de studio, zwijgend is te zien. Hoe langer dit duurt, des te hulpelozer werkt hun onfunctionele aanwezigheid in op de kijker. De reeks ‘Profession Reporter’ laat steeds het laatste frame van dit wachten zien. Als ’freeze-frame’ krijgt de aanblik van een zwijgende reporter zonder context een onverwachte lading. Met hun gelijksoortige blik gefocust op de lens lijken ze de impact van hun reportage in extremis te willen benadrukken. Niet hulpeloos maar vastberaden wachten ze op een reactie van de kijker en keren terug in functie als een intermediair geweten. (february 2010) |
 'Profession Reporter' At the end of each stand-up there is a short moment, sometimes only a (fraction of) a second, where we see a silent reporter waiting for the broadcast to switch back to the studio. The longer this moment lasts, the more helpless the impression which their non-functional presence makes on the viewer. The series ‘Profession Reporter’ shows only the last frame of this wait. As a ‘freeze-frame’ the sight of a silent reporter out of context gains an unexpected layer. With their eyes focused on the lens, they seem to want to give maximum emphasis to the impact of their report. Not helplessly but resolutely they wait for a response from the viewer and return in their function of intermediate conscience. (February 2010) |
